Where is the actual file location of onenote internet links?
I’m using OneNote 2016 to take notes locally on my computer, then I used the Share option to move the notes onto personal Onedrive. It showed as internet link when I opened onedrive folder. I can see the contents when using another computer so the synchronization looks fine so far.
I’m wondering where are the actually notes files? I have concerns that if my first computer was shutdown, will the internet links expired or something?

I'm wondering where are the actually notes files? If you have done this step, your notebooks would be moved to OneDrive cloud. To confirm it, please go to File > Under Notebook Information, please find your notebooks and click its left "Settings" button > Click Propertities > Chekc the location. The notebooks on following image is stored on OneDrive cloud. ![154009-capture91.jpg][1] The notebooks on following image is stored on local computer. ![154025-capture92.jpg][2] The icons on your image above are the shortcuts of these notebooks. >> I have concerns that if my first computer was shutdown, will the internet links expired or something? If your first compter was shutdown, your notebooks could be accessed via other computers which could login your OneDrive. And then any changes on your notebooks would be shown if you open the notebooks on the first computer after connected to the Internet. Any updates, please feel free to post back. ******************************************** If the answer is helpful, please click "Accept Answer" and kindly upvote it. - If these are the shortcuts, where are the actual files, I was assuming the actual files should be larger than 1KB size?
- If this is the way it shows on cloud, why the last modified time didn’t get changed?
I’m sorry for all the questions and I hope I explained my concerns clearly.

Hi @Eaven Huang ,
Thanks for your reply.
Q1,Under your case, the actual files are stored on OneDrive. You could follow the path you find your notebooks on OneDrive Online. Q2,Where do you check he last modified version and the ast modified time? I still suggest you go to OneDrive Online, find your notebooks, then right-click the notebooks, choose Details, More Details to have a check.
The following image shows before modifying on one notbook.

The following image shows after modifying on one notbook.

Please also make sure your notebooks are synced successfully to OneDrive. When you open notebooks, there is no sync failure icon.

Hi @Emily Hua-MSFT , Thanks again for your reply. I think it’s figured out and indeed the files were stored on the cloud under the same path:) One odd thing is that, the last modified time didn’t get changed even I updated something today, however I can see the updated contents on the cloud, so that’s not really a big deal. Thanks all the same for your great answers, it helps a lot.

This is just bad design. It’s confusing for users and support agents. Why aren’t OneNote files saved in OneDrive the same way they would be saved outside of the cloud? (with actual .one file extensions) Is there a place we can provide feedback for this awful design? I’m sick of trying to help confused users who are switching between computers, getting name changes, and having all varieties of sync issues that are only inflated due to this weird "internet shortcut" design choice.
